Vibrant, eclectic monthly market in a beautiful location. Mountshannon Community market takes place on the first Saturday of each month except January.
The primary focus is on creating a warm atmosphere, where both locals and visitors feel welcome, and can meet old friends, and make new ones.
There are around 20 stalls each month, selling a variety of goods, including: Crafts; Organic Bread; Vintage Clothes; Natural Cosmetics and healthcare products; Organic Vegetables; locally produced Kimchi and Sauerkraut; Ceramics; Hot food for both Vegans and Carnivores; Books; Plants and lots more.
The market is centered around the old Market House, and we have stalls both inside and outside.
We have a social area, where you can play games, or just sit and chat.
Mountshannon is a beautiful village, perched on the edge of Lough Derg. You can visit the Iniscealtra Visitor Centre, Holy island itself, Woodpark Forest with it’s Fairy Trail, and the local Arts group have a magical Arts Trail with sculptures and murals.
In June there is a special Festival market over the Bank holiday weekend (two days in the Aistear Park) and in December, there is a special Christmas market, spread over two venues, on the 2nd Advent Sunday.
There are pubs and cafes in the village, and the beautiful Aistear park with both a maze and a Labyrinth, along with Mountshannon harbour, are great places for a picnic.
A warm welcome is guaranteed.
