National Heritage Week in County Clare 2026
National Heritage Week is Ireland’s annual celebration of the rich and varied heritage that shapes our communities, our landscapes, and our lives. Taking place during the third week of August, it invites everyone to discover the stories, crafts, buildings, and natural wonders that make Ireland unique — and in Clare, it’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the county’s living heritage.
Throughout the week, heritage centres, community groups, museums, libraries, and individuals across County Clare host events that share traditions, reveal hidden histories, and inspire a deeper appreciation for local culture and nature. From guided walks and craft demonstrations to talks, exhibitions, and family activities, Heritage Week connects generations and celebrates belonging.
The Clare programme forms part of the national initiative coordinated by The Heritage Council, with hundreds of free and accessible events across the island of Ireland. Each year’s theme adds fresh perspectives on how our heritage is understood and experienced today.
Dates for 2026 are yet to be officially confirmed. Full details and updates — including the Clare listings — will be available closer to the time on the national website www.heritageweek.ie.
