The small, welcoming, and lively holiday resort of Lahinch lies at the head of Liscannor Bay, beside a magnificent crescent beach. Home to a world-famous links golf course and renowned as a leading surf centre, Lahinch presents visitors with the perfect mix of outdoor activities, hospitality and relaxation.

Lahinch boasts one of best known and most loved beaches in Ireland with its golden sands stretching almost two kilometres around Liscannor Bay. With ample public parking alongside the promenade, visitors can take in the same amazing scenery and beautiful walks that generations of people have enjoyed down through the years. As one of Western Europe’s leading ‘surf centres’, Lahinch attracts people from around the world to its many surf schools every year. Lahinch is also a popular destination for lovers of other water sports, namely sailing, swimming, kite surfing, skin-diving, deep-sea and freshwater fishing.

Golfers from all over the globe travel to Lahinch to play two 18-hole renowned championship courses – Lahinch Golf Course and Lahinch Castle Golf Course. The arrival of the world’s top golfers to the town in 2019 for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open put the town’s 130-year golf club on the international sporting and tourism map.

The opening of the West Clare Railway in 1887 led to an explosion of tourists visiting Lahinch from all over Ireland, a tradition that continues to this day and more than half a century after the railway last operated. A key draw for many is Lahinch’s friendly and lively atmosphere with a large concentration of pubs, restaurants, hotels and visitor accommodation, shops, and tourism-related retail outlets along the town’s main street.

No matter the weather, Lahinch Leisure Centre offers an ideal day out for all the family with its 25m pool, learner pool, heated baby pool, jacuzzi, gym facilities, steam room and sauna.

Lahinch is located close to the market towns of Miltown Malbay and Ennistymon and is a ten-minute drive to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience, one of Clare’s two Signature Discovery Points on the Wild Atlantic Way.
