Experience multi-activities at Derg Isle Adventure Centre
Scariff, East Clare
Derg Isle Adventure Centre is located on the western shores of Lough Derg, close to Inis Cealtra (Holy Island) in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. Nestled between the Sliabh Aughty and Bearna mountains, it is an idyllic experience of mountain, river and lake.
A water or land activity with Derg Island gives each visitor a unique chance to enjoy the flora, fauna and wildlife adorning this area of special conservation and outstanding beauty.
Water activities include kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, or boat hires. Learn to keep your balance on their SUP boards or how to resist the need to overreach and capsize your kayak in the river or lake experience. Take the pace of your visit down and allow your craft to drift in Scariff Bay while enjoying the scenery and the panoramic views of Inis Cealtra.
Swimming experience is not required as full instruction, safety equipment and supervision is provided.
Do you want to try something different? Take one of their lake boats out on Lough Derg and enjoy the scenery at your pace.
Having explored the wonder of the inland waterways, take time to try your hand at a variety of their on-site activities. Discover how to fire an arrow like Robin Hood in their impressive archery range. Full instruction, equipment and supervision are provided at all times. Their climbing wall is also a big hit with visitors where climbers can don their helmets and harness and scale the impressive climbing tower. With three levels of difficulty in-built into the climbing, it offers different challenges for differing levels of climbing ability. Try entrusting your climbing partner to belay (slow release) the rope and return you safely to the ground.
The TV show ‘Fittest Families’ are a favourite for many nowadays. Why not test yourselves on their very own custom-built obstacle course complete with ‘up and overs’, cargo nets, balance beams, tyre wall, swinging tyres, ninja steps, and more? It’s a course that is certain to have the pulses racing. Their obstacle course also includes a 45m button-seat zip, with more zip wires to come later in 2022.
