Walker Cup 2026 – Lahinch Golf Club

The Walker Cup is a prestigious international match bringing together leading amateur male golfers from Great Britain & Ireland and the United States of America for a biennial contest that showcases the very best of the men’s amateur game. The 51st Walker Cup will be played at Lahinch Golf Club on County Clare’s spectacular Atlantic coastline from Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 September 2026.

First played in 1922, the Walker Cup has featured many of the sport’s greatest names and selection to compete is often regarded as the highlight of an amateur golfer’s career. Past competitors include Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Collin Morikawa, Sir Michael Bonallack, Pádraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy. In 2025, Team USA claimed the 50th Walker Cup at Cypress Point with a 17–9 victory, extending their overall lead in the series to 40 wins to 9 for Great Britain & Ireland, with one match tied.

The 2026 match at Lahinch will once again see ten of the top amateur players from each side go head-to-head in a Ryder Cup–style team format over two days of foursomes and singles match play. Great Britain & Ireland will be captained for the second time by Dean Robertson, as the home side looks to challenge a dominant USA team that has won the last five contests.

Lahinch Golf Club, regularly ranked among the world’s finest links courses, offers a dramatic stage for this historic international match, with rolling dunes, challenging holes and sweeping views over Liscannor Bay.
